MOLODI, a body percussion group, will be coming to Central on Wednesday, January 13th for a performance in the Ballroom at 7pm.

MOLODI combines tap, beatboxing, hip hop dancing and acrobatics in their performances. The group even hosts workshops where anyone who is interested in step and that style of dancing can come and learn from the group. The group has been functioning as a company since 2009.

Jason Nious, one of the members of MOLODI, said that the group was asked to perform at Central after they were discovered at the National Association for Campus Activities’ West Regional Conference in Spokane.

“When I first saw stepping, I saw it on the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People),” Nious said. “I taped it and I saw the power in it. Since then, I was inspired…”

What Nious had seen was so powerful that it had changed the course of his life, he says. Stepping and dancing is a huge part of his life as well as the lives of the other members of MOLODI.

According to Nious, the MOLODI is looking forward to their performance here at the school. Without giving anything about the performance away, Nious advised for people to come and be ready.

“Expect to participate,” Nious said. “Come open and ready to receive something because we have a lot to give. It’s going to be fun!”
