We want to hear from you! As a college newspaper, we care about hearing from diverse opinions and viewpoints. Whether you are a college student, a faculty member, or someone from the community, your voice is important. Please email your submissions to [email protected] or use the “Submit a Letter” form.

If you have an opinion on an issue or an experience you want to share, we want to hear it!

Rules and Guidelines:

  • The Observer welcomes brief letters of 500 words or less from readers on current issues.
  • Please include your full name and university affiliation: year and major, degree and year graduated, or staff position and department. If you are a member of the community, please include your full name and title.

  • Position/university affiliation/title
  • Column title
  • 500 words or less of body text

Submission deadline:

  • To be printed in the following week’s issue, use the “Submit a Letter” form by 5 p.m. Sunday. The Observer reserves the right to reject or edit for style and length. All letters become property of The Observer. Anonymous letters will not be considered.

Letters to the Editor:

Art:

Having student, faculty and community members share their art is important to The Observer! Whether it is a photograph, painting, graphic design, sculpture or another form of art, we would love to see it!

Rules and Guidelines:

  • Large file sizes are preferred; small files are not guaranteed to run due to image clarity limitations.
  • We require a 25 word description; it’s a chance for you to describe the motivation, inspiration or creation of your piece.
  • Photos not taken by you must have the permission from the original photographer, even if the photo is of you or your work.
  • Photos may be cropped or otherwise altered for print.
  • The Observer reserves the right to decline art submissions based on our sole discretion.

  • Artist name
  • Photographer’s name (if different from the artist)
  • Title
  • 25-word description

Submission deadline:

  • Sundays at 5 p.m. for consideration for the following week’s paper.
