Director of Governmental Affairs Edgar Espino announced the Get Out The Vote drive was reduced to only one day instead of three days. The event dates canceled were Oct. 19 and Oct. 21. The event will be held only on Oct. 28 in SURC 135 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

According to Espino, the Student Engagement Hub will be canceled on Nov. 1. The event will now only take place on Nov. 2. from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the SURC Ballroom.

Application due dates for the student senate have been pushed back two weeks because the student election commission is in need of two more members to fill vacant positions according to an ASCWU public meeting held Monday. Until these slots are filled, student elections will be on hold.

Any students interested in filling these positions should contact the ASCWU office as soon as possible at [email protected] or reach out to Executive Vice President Geoffrey Odoch.

Various advisory boards still have vacant positions to be filled, including the Student Union, the Recreation Center, the Wildcat Shop and Housing and Dining. The link to apply for these positions is on the ASCWU student government page and the Wellington page on the CWU website.

“Please consider joining all of our committees,” ASCWU President Madeline Koval said. “This is a great opportunity for you to grow your resume and get involved.”

Senate Speaker Rachael Medalia hopes that students will visit the ASCWU office and give feedback to student officers. According to Medalia, there are snacks and stickers available for students in the office.

Koval encouraged students to attend future public meetings.

“Make your voices heard here on campus,” Koval said. “It’s really important not only in your development as a student but as a citizen here. We just want to make sure everybody has the opportunity to be involved and grow here at CWU.”
