Flood in Barge Hall

Star Diavolikis, Senior Reporter

Barge Hall flooded on Feb. 13 in the east end of the building due to a failure in the fire suppression system, according to a CWU notice. Since the flood, the Facilities Management Department (FMD) has worked to clean the hall in order for workers to return to their workspaces and salvage what they can. Water is being removed from walls, ceilings, floors and furniture.

Architectural and engineering firms will visit to assess if there was architectural damage done to the building.

CWU officials are currently working on assessing all damage, which they said could take up to another week. The Department of Information services has found which technology is damaged and has the equipment under evaluation. The hall will be closed this week in efforts to continue cleaning.
