Another season has come and gone in NFL history, and as we celebrate our 2014 NFC champion Seahawks, one very important thing still remains: the Super Bowl party.
Coming from an event planner’s perspective, this is a time worth celebrating. There are four key components to throwing a great Super Bowl party.
The first key component is the TV. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it’s a bigger issue than you might think.
Record-breaking sales in electronics happen every year around the Super Bowl. Prices on TVs normally drop five to ten percent each year around this time just to get ready for the big game.
This is due to the importance of having the right size screen for the game.
You don’t want to have all your friends and family gathered around a 20-inch screen in your parents’ basement, trying to determine whether a flag was just thrown or a helmet flew off.
The bigger the better in this case.
Everyone is going to want to see the hard-hitting, heart-pounding game that is going to be this battle.
The next key component to any great Super Bowl party is the food.
In a random sample taken at the SURC, a majority of the students are most excited about the food that comes along with the game.
We all know that throwing a party can be expensive, especially when it comes to food.
It doesn’t have to be a full four-course meal, but snacks and finger foods are the key. Appetizers are your new best friend.
As for drinks, the best option is buying in bulk. Cheap and easy are the way to go when you have a living room full of people.
And if you can’t afford everything all yourself, then make your party a potluck. Food being the thing people most look forward to during the Super Bowl they will bring their favorite dishes with them.
Third, we have people.
Everyone would rather spend a special occasion with people they like rather than people they despise. Making that you have guests, and they all interact well is important to your party’s success.
If you do host the party, it is now your job to make sure that everyone is content. To be the host/ess with the most.
As far as how many people to invite, the best way to tell is directly based on the first two key components.
If your TV isn’t big enough for you to see from the couch, then it’s not going to be big enough for 15 other people. If you don’t have a plan to have enough food for everyone, then maybe a party at your house isn’t such a great idea.
The final key component you need to throw a great Super Bowl party is to have fun.
It is a game! Enjoy it. Watch the game, have some food, enjoy the company of your friends and family.
It’s not every day that we get to see our ‘Hawks go to the Super Bowl, so make this one count!
