Krusin’ Kittitas Burnouts and Car Show to be held this weekend

On August 8th, the annual Kruisin’ Kittitas Burnouts and Car Show will be hosted on Main Street in Kittitas. The event will be hosted by Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce.

The event expect to have over 100 car and 15 burnout competitors. This year County Chamber will host 2 new events: The Manifold Cooking Contest and Swap Meet.

“Manifold Cooking Contest is a contest where contestants will cook food with the heat from their car,“ Jessica Tate, operator of the event, said.

“Last year, this event attracted more than 2000 spectators, and we hope to have more people coming this year because it will help the city with tourism,” said Tate.

There will also be food vendors and other activities, including stuff for the kids.

The 4th annual kid’s car show, for 12 year olds and younger, will begin at 12 pm at New Life Assembly in Kittitas. In this event, each competitor will create a car using cardboard.

After the awards are handed out, kids will have a chance to showcase their cardboard car. Dash Plaques will be awarded to all the participants.

Cars will start showing around 8 am, after paying the 15 dollars registration, and assigned parking on Main St. The show will officially start at 10 am. Judging will start around 10:30 am and, awards will be hand out at 1:30pm.

There will also be a parade at starting at 2:30 pm on Main Street. Showcase cars will be driven so spectators can see them in action. After the parade, the grand finale, the burnout, starts.
