High schools from all around Washington State come to Central every year for summer camps. At Central the athletic clubs offer a variety of summer camps for all high school athletes.

Dennis Francois, Central’s athletic director, said that there are over 2500 attendees who will be attending a Central athletic summer camp this year.

Central’s athletic department offers men and women basketball camps, football camp, rugby, soccer, softball, and volleyball camps, Francois said.

These camps are good exposure for Central and let  attendees know what it’s like to go to attend school at Central. It also gives coaches a chance to scout high school prospects for Central sports, Francois said.

“On top of the exposure, and the recruitment from the university perspective, it also generates a lot of revenue for the university because the vast majority camps will use our own resident hall on campus,” Francois said.

High school students are also given the option to stay on campus or be a commute attendee.

Most of the camps that are offered usually go for about 3-4 days, Francois said.
