The 2025 Rudy Scholz Collegiate Athlete of the Year Award was awarded to CWU rugby’s Oscar Treacy. The 6-foot-3-inch, 205 pound senior wing out of Melbourne, Australia caps off an incredible run of talent that has come out of CWU rugby. Treacy becomes the first ever Wildcat to win the prestigious award in its ten years of existence.
“It is an absolute honor to receive the Rudy Scholz award, especially given how competitive college rugby has been this year, and I know there are so many other players who performed exceptionally. Firstly, I’d like to give thanks to God for the path he has led me on and for constantly providing for me. I’d like to give a huge thanks to all the teammates who have been a part of my journey at Central and have contributed to me as a player. Finally, special thanks need to be given to coaches Todd Thornley and Erik Hoium for growing me as a player and as a man, Janie Kluempers for keeping me healthy and on the field, and my family for supporting me on this journey and making all of this possible in the first place,” Treacy said in an interview with CWU Athletics.
