CWU XC competes at GNAC Championship

The CWU cross country team competed this past weekend at the 2021 Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship in Lacey, Washington. The men’s team took home sixth place overall while the women’s team finished in ninth overall. 

Freshman Shawn Cough would lead the men to finish sixth while posting a personal best. Cough finished 27th with a time of 25:33.40. It was the first time Cough finished as the front runner for the Wildcats. 

The Wildcats had five runners on the men’s side to finish in the top 40. Senior Trevor Allen was the next CWU runner to finish coming  in 31st  place with a time of 25:51.80. Following Allen was sophomore  Zack Sundt finishing in 33rd with a time of 25:57.40. 

The last  two CWU runners to finish in the top 40 for the men’s were senior Rajesh Gill and senior Henry Milodragovich. Gill finished in 39th place with a time of 26:08.10 and Milodragovich finished in 40th place with a time of 26:16.20

Junior Mateo Rivera finished with a time of 26:33.5, good enough for 48th place. The last Wildcat runner to finish on the men’s side would be sophomore Spencer Solvberg timing in at 27:01.10, finishing in 55th place. 

On the women’s side, junior Madison Child led the way. She timed in at 23:47.50  while finishing in 34th place. Fellow junior Kay Lester would be the next CWU runner to finish coming in at 39th with a time of 24:04.30.

Junior Caitlin Gohr finished with a time of 24:35.10, sophomore Katelynn Strate came in at 24:35.50, junior Meredith Massey followed behind Strate timing at 24:39.50 and freshman Tailer Cochran finished at 24:40.50. The four of them finished 49th through 52nd respectively.

Freshman Kelli Heim was the final CWU runner to finish inside the top 55. Heim placed 54th with a time of 24:42.70.

The Wildcats last meet of the season will be at the NCAA West Regional on Nov. 6 in Monmouth, Oregon.
