The CWU Football team will play their first game in 511 days when they travel to Missoula, Montana for a matchup against the Montana Grizzlies on Apr. 10.

The two teams were scheduled to face off at the beginning of the 2020 season, but the game was rescheduled as a result of safety measures with the pandemic.

According to a press release on wildcatsports.com, the game is contingent on approval by the Missoula County Health Department (MCHD). Additionally, ticketing and stadium capacity will be dependent on approval by the MCHD.

The Grizzlies closed the 2019 season with a 10-4 record, including a 6-2 record in the Big Sky Conference. They were 7-0 at home and had the No. 11 scoring offense in the country.

On the other side, the Wildcats closed the 2019 season with a 7-4 record, including a 5-1 record in GNAC play.

In the release, Head Football Coach Chris Fisk said, “On behalf of our program I would like to thank the CWU and UM administration for finding a way to let the young men from both programs play.”

Men’s basketball also announced their February 2021 schedule, starting with a home meeting against Northwest Nazarene University on Feb. 13. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Nicholson Pavilion.

CWU will host Seattle Pacific University (SPU) on Friday, Feb. 19 before traveling to SPU for a matchup on Saturday, Feb. 20.

The Feb. schedule wraps up with a pair of meetings against Saint Martin’s University (SMU). The Wildcats will host SMU on Friday, Feb. 26 and travel to SMU on Saturday, Feb.27.

It’s unclear whether fans will be allowed or not at any of the home meetings, according to the release.

In a press release found on wildcatsports.com, Head Men’s Basketball Coach Brandon Rinta said, “We are grateful as a program to be able to get the chance to compete against other teams during the midst of this pandemic.”
