On July 19, a Kittitas County resident living in the long-term care facility Pacifica Senior Living died from COVID-19. According to a press release from the Kittitas County Public Health Department (KCPHD), two additional residents of long-term care facilities have also been hospitalized at Kittitas Valley Hospital and are receiving comfort care.
“We value our loved ones in Kittitas County – neighbors, friends, and family,” the KCPHD release said. “This touches many families in our community. Please reach out to those you know and offer support.”
Kittitas County’s Incident Management Team (IMT) has been working with long-term care facilities on response plans regarding COVID-19 since early March. These plans include ensuring that each facility has proper personal protective equipment and up-to-date contact information for mass notifications.
There are currently restrictions in place for who can enter long-term care facilities in Washington state, due to the older and immunocompromised residents of these facilities being at risk for COVID-19.
The KCPHD recommends mental health resources like Washington Listens to those affected by the pandemic. Washington Listens can be reached at +1 (833) 681-0211. Callers will be connected with a support specialist.
