BREAKING: Katherine Frank is no longer CWU’s Provost. This goes into action immediately according to an email sent to employees by CWU President James L. Gaudino on June 10.

“I will serve as the Interim Provost until we can retain support services from The Registry. Chief of Staff, Linda Schactler will handle administrative and day-to-day operations,” Gaudino wrote in the email.

Frank became the university’s provost in 2016 after being the Dean of Arts and Sciences at Northern Kentucky University (NKU). Prior to working at NKU, Frank was the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences at Indiana University East. She was also the Chair of the English and Foreign Languages and the Writing Program Administrator at Colorado State University-Pueblo for 10 years according to the CWU website.

As of 4:52 p.m. on June 10 Frank’s university email is inactive. Her name is also taken off of the university’s directory and Gaudino’s name is replaced as the interim provost on the organization chart on the provost’s page of the CWU website.

Gaudino’s email does not state a reason for this change but does state a national search for a new provost will begin immediately.
