Open Mic Night at The 1891 Bistro was tonight. It started at 8 p.m. and was for anyone and everyone who wanted to show off their talents or enjoy the live performances.

Participants could sing, play an instrument, perform stand-up comedy or showcase any other talent they might have.

Nearly all seats were filled at the event. A sign-up sheet was passed around for participants. As usual, The Bistro was selling refreshments.

Some performances included guitar solos, singing performances, stand-up comedy and poetry. Freshman Joyful Opera played piano and sang “Fierce” by Jesus Culture.

Despite taking piano lessons in second grade and quitting, Opera got back into music later on in life.

“Once I heard the song by Jesus Culture I got back into playing when I was sixteen,” Opera said.

Opera was just one of several performers at Open Mic Night. The next Open Mic Night is on April 18. No auditions are required.  Anyone who shows up can participate.
