BY MAX BAYERN, Assistant Sports Editor

It was a very successful day at the 40th Annual Western Washington University Invitational for Central’s men and women’s cross country team. Senior Connie Morgan finished in 13th place and the men’s team took fourth place out of eight teams.

Morgan finished the six-kilometer run with a time of 22:33.

Sophomore Dani Eggleston finished with 22:52 and finished 26th respectively.

All eight women runners finished with a time of 24:30 or better in the six-kilometer.

“Dani has really been pushing me,” Morgan said. “To run under 24 [minutes] on that course is a good time.”

The men’s team edged out Great Northwest Athletic Conference foe Simon Fraser for their top-five finish.

Central’s top three mens runners for the 10-kilometer run finished with times of 34:03 or better.

Junior Rudy Spencer led the Wildcats with an 18th-place finish with a time of 32:50.

According to wildcatsports.com, head coach Kevin Adkisson said his top runners are beginning to take form in preperation for the conference meet.

The GNAC Conference Championships will be held in Monmouth, Oregon on Oct. 26.
