You may have heard of this little movie that came out over the weekend, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Apparently, it’s part of this large franchise, “Star Wars,” which was created in 1977 by a mostly unknown filmmaker named George Lucas – ever heard of him?

After doing some research, this movie seems to be the seventh in the franchise, taking place approximately 30 years after “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi,” which released in 1983. We couldn’t find any mention of newer films after that, even though “Return of the Jedi” was the sixth movie. We tried researching the first three, but every time we found something promising we got a black screen that said “These are not the films you’re looking for.” Weird.

“Force Awakens” is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars young up-and-comers John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Oscar Issac. Oh, it also features Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill. We at the Observer haven’t heard of those names before, and the actors seem to be quite old for an action movie, but who knows, maybe this film will force them into the spotlight and help them become household names?

Jennifer Taylor, a graphic designer at Canyon Internet, sent the Observer this infographic, which seems to show that a lot of people have gone to see this new flick. Neat.
